SUPER BAR CODES

You heard me correctly. SUPER bar codes. These things are PICTURES! Are they even scannable? Because if they are, I can definitely see a chain like Publix or something using this idea on their store brand products, right?

Let see what we've got...
From top right to bottom left:

Flowers sprouting in a field of grass
A rail road
A gun with floral amo
Windmills in the hills
Bats in the woods...?
And a city scape.

Holy cow. This is genius. I just stumbled across these while surfing the internet, and my mind was blown. The designers here were clearly going above and beyond the lame series of lines we usually find on packaging. This is seriously awesome... someone needs to make this happen. I never thought you could make something more out of a simple bar code. This is sheer brilliance at its finest.

CRAZY CUTLERY

Alright. Designers have clearly gotten so desperate for a gig that they've turned to designing weird an nearly unusable cutlery for a living. Though that does sound harsh, I believe that there are other areas of interest for designers. On the contrary, if it weren't for people like these, we wouldn't have half the nifty things we do today.

These utensils are truly amazing... and rather comical. Exhausted silverware? REALLY? And as if the fact that they only look right on certain plates wasn't enough of a burden, they are probably impossible and rather annoying to try and hold, let alone to cut, stab, and eat with.

And next up we have the silverware that has fallen victim to someone who thought they needed a little extra iron in their diet. This cutlery has been designed to look as though someone and taken a big old bite out of it... I'm sorry, but is that knife even usable? You might as well use the spoon to cut things instead, i get the feeling it'd work better.

And lastly we have the fish silverware collection. I would probably be a total cheese and suspend these in my fish tank before I even thought twice about using them as real silverware. They are just too cool looking to use on food. clearly.

I found this totally awesome advertisement on Stumbleupon.com, a website that randomly directs users to different web pages concerning the individual's interests. These are fairly obscure websites, none of which are generally well known, but Stumble has a web filter that blocks sites that transmit viruses.

LINK TO THE VIDEO: (please, just watch it... it's totally worth it)

Obviously, I have "graphic design" and "advertising" selected as 2 of my interests, which explains why this video came up.  As you can tell, this ad uses highly modern technology in combination with color and photography/film to create a breath-taking commercial for the Cannon Pixima.... which, as you see really brings "color to life."

 CRAZY INSANE CAMERA CONTRAPTION

These are just a few snapshots of the action, which are beautiful sculptures of sound-animated ink that have been frozen in time with the use of a high speed camera.

Truly amazing. Enjoy!
